Just For The Fun Of It
Banff Snow Days
To promote Banff National Park activities in January, Lake Louise has held an international ice carving competition during the past few years. Artists in Banff did some ice carving, but sought a different means of attracting visitors to the town. This year the town experimented with snow sculpting, though not yet as a competition. A few large packed snow slabs were transported into Banff and snow artists from home and abroad were invited to try their skills. Some of the ten completed townsite sculptures are located along Banff Avenue, but most of them are on nearby Bear Street.
