Usually in the month of July, millions of capelin roll along the eastern shores of Newfoundland during the spawning season.
After spawning, the male capelin have an extremely high mortality rate which is close to 100%. Whales, seals, cod, squid, mackerel, and seabirds all feast on capelin.
If you haven't seen the entertaining videos of the capelin rolling, the links are at the bottom of the introduction to this album.
