We first followed the red line up to the top amongst the dark green patch of trees. We then retraced our steps back down towards the parking lot, and continued following the red line along the Hoodoos Trail for 4 km and finishing off on Banff Avenue.

The meandering Bow River makes a U-turn as it flows towards the Banff Springs Hotel in the distance.

"A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney, or earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock that protrudes from the bottom of an arid drainage basin or badland. Hoodoos typically consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements. They generally form within sedimentary rock and volcanic rock formations."

These two formations remind me of the movie Ghost Busters, especially the ghost on the right with the fat droopy schnozzle.

As these pair were dancing . . . it began to rain.

We saw no need in hurrying in order to catch up with the others.

Heading in the direction of the Downtown District.

Just 1 kilometre to go before we are in the townsite and ready to settle down for a meal and a well deserved beer . . . or two.

Did someone mention beer?

This is a dream come true.

A section of Banff Avenue has been closed to vehicle traffic and opened up for pedestrians, cyclists, and skateboarders only.

Because of the pandemic, only Albertans are welcomed into the townsite. During any other year the sidewalks are jammed with tourists from around the world keeping many Albertans including myself away.

Some of the side roads are closed to vehicle traffic as well and opened up to folks such as ourselves to enjoy a meal outside. Each eatery along this section has its own small space roped off for its patrons to socialize.

Donna LOVES dogs, and in this case it is an Irish Wolfhound.

To my surprise, although these dogs are gentle and make good pets, they can kill a pit bull without much of a fight at all in an open field. Go figure.
