Saturday of the Labour Day Weekend may not have been the best time to drive into the mountains. But we hear their beckoned call so here we come.

Before reaching Banff the weather was beginning to turn kind of ugly.

It made no sense for us to hike in this kind of weather, so the pleasure we got out of Boom Lake was to take a bathroom break then to continue on for a different adventure.

We never did consider going back home to Calgary this early in the day.

Our first get-out-of-the-car-stop was Johnson Lake which is just minutes north of Banff on the other side of the TransCanada.

From here it is decided we would hike up to Cascade falls.

This is the falls that suddenly comes into view as you are rounding a corner heading west on the TransCanada just before Banff.

"Should we continue on with the avalanche warning being posted."
"I don't think this is avalanche season just yet."

Our lunch destination is on a slope just behind the lower falls in the centre.

A couple of folks who we passed on the way down from here said they saw us from the highway.

I can't say for certain but I'm thinkin we sat for lunch just above the lowest portion of the falls in the centre of this photo. From where we were located the top portions of the falls were out of our view.

It seems as if our earlier lunch was not enough to fill most of us, so once out of Banff and heading back to Calgary we pulled into Canmore for a bite to eat.
While leaving Canmore we watched as the Three Sisters faded from our view.
