Fish Flies


Once arriving, there was not a lot of time left in my first day in Windsor to photograph much, however I did manage some time to head down to the lake and watch the fish flies flutter about.

And also get a glimpse of Mom and her chick paddling by.

My Chair is Waiting


For the next hour and a half or so I plan on sitting in one of those chairs out there, and photograph some of the goings-on out on Lake St Clair. I will also make the occasional trip or three back into the house for a coffee warmup, and possibly another toasted half bagel.

What a fabulous way to begin a holiday.

The Great Lakes

This is My Quiet Place.

Lake St. Clair is the small blue patch under the red balloon . The balloon also indicates where Sharon and I are staying for a week.

Lake Erie is below Lake St. Clair and Lake Ontario is west of New York city. Lake Huron is above St. Clair, and to the left is Lake Michigan. Lake Superior is above Lake Michigan.

My most favourite place to sit, any time of the day, is just to the right of that over turned boat in the centre of the photo. That light orange spot just to the right of the boat is the chair I sit in.

The white thing in the water and in front of the orange chair is a boat launch.

6:09 am

It is just past 6am and I'm already through my bagel and getting settled in for some action on the lake. I also have some reading material and my journal at hand.

Those fish flies that you noticed flying about during last night's sunset are bird food this morning.

These juicy fish flies descent upon Windsor in the millions every year in June. I recall years ago when I lived in the city, the road along Riverside Dr. was so thick with these flies the tires were actually hydro-planing along the surface. And I am told that over the years that hasn't changed.

These swimmers must be in training for an event because they make a swim-past almost every mourning.

So far I am up to date journalling on my travel doings, and I am now writing about things happening in real time. Such as fish gulping up fish flies floating on the water's surface.

The day is done, and while flossing my teeth I'm enjoying some fireworks over in the US of Eh!.
